Kudos from food closet

EDITOR:

Summer is flying by and the food is certainly flying off the shelves. First things first, I need to make an apology to the Democratic Women for leaving their name off the list last time for both a donation of food and a cash donation. We do thank you and apologize for missing your name.

We are so fortunate to have been receiving donations sufficient to keep up with our increased client list and are continuing to be able to give out those most important food-stuffs like milk, eggs and meats as well as the canned goods. Once again, we would like to extend our thanks to those who support us so generously. We would also like to especially thank the many donors who ask to remain anonymous. You know who you are and we do want to thank you.

If there are any out there who have gardens starting to produce more than you need, fresh produce is always welcome. Just call Eileen at 782-3711 to arrange a time or just stop by the Carson Valley Community Food Closet at 1244 Waterloo, Gardnerville, while we're open from 12:30 - 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday to drop off whatever you wish to donate. We have already received some donations through the program at Plant It Nursery and it's so welcome.

The following donations were received in June (in pounds): Democratic Women's Group (23), Doug and Cindy Peterson (422), Sapphire Wizard Ceramics (20), St. Gall Catholic Church (446), farmers market vendors (179), Kiwanis (50), Knights of Columbus at St. Gall (43), Gold Dust West Casino (266), Sharkey's Casino (243), Douglas County Transfer Station 10) and Plant It Nursery (14).

As always we so thank the local merchants for their donations, Raley's, Smith's, Scolari's, Walmart, Starbucks of Minden and Gardnerville, Costco, Trader Joe's, Shell Country Store and Variety Bakery.

Cash donations were received from: M. Roker, Thomas-Darrough, Store-All, PermaCal, Park Place AM/PM, Carson Valley Lions Club, B. Fettic, A. Peters, V. Craik, R. Lindberg, J. Kingsbury, B. Middendorf, Scolari's, Carson Valley Medical Center, A. Spingola, C. Pratt, J. Curtis, Bodenstein Trust, K. Goode, D. Stockman, Holder/Sharkey's, Gray Matter, Bing Construction, G. Garcia, Coventry Cross Episcopal Church, Pinon Hills Elementary School, and Genoa Community Church. Thanks again.
