Kudos from food closet

Editor:

The Carson Valley Community Food Closet has been busier than ever these past few weeks and our community has been amazing in support of our work even in these tough times. Once again we wish to thank all those who donate so generously of their food and money, as well as time as volunteers help to gather the food, sort and stock the shelves and distribute the food to our clients.

Our special thanks to the following contributors (in pounds) Douglas County Public Library (140), Gold Dust Casino (208), Valley Cruisers (480), Carson Valley United Methodist Church (169), Pinon Hills Elementary School's movie night (118), Barton Hospice Thrift Store (15), Doug and Cindy Peterson (680), Coventry Cross Episcopal Church (82), Douglas County Animal Shelter (385), Lynn C. (30), Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School (380), Trinity Lutheran Church (20), VFW (40), Michael Smith (20), St. Gall Catholic Church (102).

Our regular grocery contributors: Raley's, Smith's, Scolari's, Trader Joe's, Starbucks Minden and Gardnerville, Vanity Bakery, Shell Country Store, Russell's Mercantile, Costco and Walmart.

Cash donations were received from Z. Noland, F. Hennen, B. Fettic, V. Craik, Beta Sigma Phi, Sierra Dojo, Ray Sidney of Big George Ventures, Bank of America- United Way, Scolari's customers and employees of Scolari's, Raley's and Smith's, Schwab-S. Bolga, A. Peters, M. Johnson, W. Thomas, George Derner & Son Trucking, C. Ott, Coventry Cross Episcopal Church, United Way, R. Serratius, J. Williams.

If you happen to be cleaning any cupboards, we could use cereal, heat and eat and ramen foods to help keep the shelves full. We will be having a fundraising yard sale and bake sale at the food closet May 2 if you have items that would be appropriate for that event. Items can be dropped off at the Carson Valley Community Food Closet at 1255 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville. Business hours are 1 - 4 p.m. weekdays except Thursday. Contact Director Eileen Boettiger for information at 782-3711
