A fatal collision had traffic down to one lane northbound on Interstate 580 for three hours in Carson City just south of the Fairview Lane interchange, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported at 11:07 a.m. Sunday and the lane was still closed nearly two hours later.

A traffic camera overlooking the collision shows a trooper investigating what appears to be a downed motorcycle.

The Record-Courier has reached out to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol regarding the crash.

An hour earlier, a tipped over hay truck trailer blocked the merge lane from Highway 395 onto Highway 88 on Sunday morning.

The truck was turning from the main highway onto 88 when its second trailer went over spilling hay bales all over the lane around 10:10 a.m.

Traffic at the time was fairly light, and Douglas County deputies coned off the turn lane as motorists figured out how to get around the incident.

Man drowns near Sand Harbor

The second drowning on the east shore of Lake Tahoe in two months occurred 4:10 p.m. Friday, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.

An unresponsive man was found in the water after Washoe County deputies and Marine 9 responded to the incident, along with North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, U.S. Coast Guard, Sand Harbor Lifeguards, and Nevada State Parks.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Marine 7 was called but cancelled shortly afterwards.

“The victim was transported to Sand Harbor and transferred by ambulance to a local area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased,” according to the Washoe Sheriff. “This incident is being investigated as an accidental drowning.”

The name of the deceased has not been released as of Sunday.

Dive instructor Shaun Larson died in a June 18 incident. Larson was reportedly aiding a student when he said he couldn’t breathe before dying.

It has been a rough summer at Lake Tahoe where a woman plunged to her death at Eagle Falls on the Fourth of July.

Ishrat Binta Azim, 25, of San Francisco “was found in a pool of water near the Vikingsholm walking path, where she was confirmed deceased,” El Dorado Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Alexander Sorey told the Tahoe Daily Tribune. No foul play was suspected.
