The R-C Morning Report

Douglas County commissioners are expected to make a decision today on consolidating the finances of the county's water systems. The issue will be heard after 4 p.m. during commissioners' regular meeting at the Tahoe Transportation Center at Stateline.

County commissioners' meeting actually starts at 1:30 p.m., but it's mostly reports. They are scheduled to discuss adopting the Douglas County Emergency Response Plan and conduct East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts Chief Tod Carlini's performance review after the water hearing. The water hearing delayed both issues at commissioners' last meeting, and may do so again today.

The frost warning certainly came true for some Sierra valleys. Mammoth Lakes reported temperatures below freezing for about three hours early this morning. South Lake Tahoe dropped below freezing at 3:53 p.m. and is still around that temperature, and Truckee hit the basement at 25 degrees at 5:30 a.m. according to the National Weather Service.

As for Carson Valley, I'm reading 39 degrees in Genoa, it's also 39 degrees in Fish Springs. Gardnerville is reading 42 degrees, and Minden is the chilly spot at 38 degrees. It will get warmer today under sunny skies with a high of 77 degrees. It won't get very hot over the next week or so.
