The R-C Morning Report

Douglas County commissioners will take up the growth ordinance, perhaps for the final time this morning at 10 a.m. after the consent calendar is approved. Up for discussion is a compounded 2 percent growth rate. Commissioners meet in the Douglas County Administrative Building, 1616 Eighth St., in Minden.

Everyone down in Coleville is back in their homes and Highway 395 reopened with the exception of a seven-mile stretch between Topaz Lane and Eastside Lane. Firefighters had a line halfway around the fire late last night. The next update is due 8 a.m. this morning.

It got down below freezing this morning with the low temperature in Genoa hovering around 29 degrees, which means it probably hit 26 degrees down by the river. Fish Springs and Minden are both showing 32 degrees. The high temperature today is expected to hit 69 and then warm up to 81 degrees on Saturday for the Carson Valley Days Parade.

They'll be setting up the carnival in Lampe Park for the official beginning of Carson Valley Days today. The carnival kicks off at 5 p.m. today and at 3 p.m. on Friday.
