Douglas school trustees will hear a report on the district's random drug testing policy by Assistant Superintendent Lyn Gorrindo and Douglas High Dean of Students Jeff Evans at their regular meeting in Zephyr Cove today. The board meets at 3:30 p.m. at the Lake Tahoe branch of the Douglas County Public Library.

Planning Commissioners are scheduled to hear a plan to convert the Kit Carson Planned Development into an Elks Lodge and offices 1 p.m. today at the Douglas County Administrative Building in Minden. Cole Smith is also asking to amend a final map for Jobs Peak to create an additional lot.

A 39-year-old Stateline man who allegedly broke into a vehicle while his wife was undergoing a procedure at a medical center across the street is scheduled to be arraigned in District Court on one charge of of attempted burglary today. Eric Thompson, 39, is expected to enter a guilty plea this morning.

Expect the low temperature tonight to drop below freezing for the first time in a while. The National Weather Service is forecasting 28 degrees tonight in Minden. Cover any plants that you're still attached to.
