The R-C Morning Report

We had some actual weather on Monday and it looks like we may be in for some more today. Hail and heavy rain fell in Genoa between 4:30 and 5 p.m., leavings a little bit of erosion in the gullies and sending small amounts of dirt and rocks across the roads in places. It's still pretty wet outside this morning. It rained in Gardnerville for about 15 minutes.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 50-60 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms through Friday and a continuing chance of thunderstorms through next Monday. Lightning touched off three reports of fires in the Sierra Front on Monday. Down in Topaz Ranch Estates, one man reported seeing a lightning strike that started a fire around 7:55 p.m.

Meeting week starts today with Gardnerville Town Board members gathering at 4:30 p.m. Genoa Town Board members gathering at 7 p.m. in their respective town halls. Gardnerville is having a second discussion on increasing trash rates. Genoans are talking about selling advertising to support the town newsletter.
