Two more wine walks in downtown Gardnerville

Main Street Gardnerville will be hosting two more Thirsty Third Thursday wine walks this year, one on Thursday and one on Sept. 17.

The event starts at 4:30 p.m. and ends near dusk, in the downtown Gardnerville Main Street district.

This month's event will feature a '50s theme. Wine walkers who show up wearing something in support of this month's theme will receive an extra entry into the drawing for various prizes and gift certificates from the downtown businesses.

Some of the businesses will offer food along with their wine tastings, in-house demonstrations, in-house drawings and special deals.

Check in at one of two registration booths to get started. Registration booths are open from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. One will be located at the Town of Gardnerville offices, 1407 Highway 395, and the other will be located in the Stratton Center at 1540 Highway 395.

There will be parking available at both locations.

To participate, wine walkers will need to purchase a $10 wrist band and a $5 commemorative wine glass at one of the registration booths. The wine glass can be used each month but a new wrist band will need to be purchased at each Thirsty Third Thursday event.

Coupons with a $5 discount on the wrist bands are available at participating businesses for a limited time.

A complete list of participating businesses where you can pick up your discount coupons can be found at www.mainstreetgardnerville.org.

Some of the musical entertainment during the wine walk includes Vanessa Littrell performing at Joyce's Jewelry-Designing Images, All Hat No Cattle at Battle Born Wine and DJ Theresa Sexton at Tuscany Tan-A La Carte Salon.

Local musicians who would like to be involved with upcoming Thirsty Third Thursday events should contact the Main Street Gardnerville program.

There will be a classic car show, hosted by Sharkey's Casino, in their parking lot. All participating wine walkers will be voting for their favorite cars.
