The R-C Morning Report

Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada, so the U.S. Post Office won't be delivering the mail.

OK, it's also Columbus Day, or in some quarters, Indigenous Peoples Day.

In Nevada, the feds are the only people who observe Columbus Day. Nevadans traded our Columbus Day for Nevada Day, which will be Oct. 27 this year.

Wednesday will be political day this week with two election events scheduled.

The League of Women Voters will be hosting a candidates night 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the CVIC Hall in Minden for the two county commission races and the race for Assembly District 39.

Douglas County's own Brian Krolicki will be speaking at the Sierra Nevada Republican Women's luncheon at Two Guys From Italy at noon on Wednesday. State Treasurer Krolicki is running for lieutenant governor in the November election. The Stateline resident served on the Douglas County Planning Commission back in the day.

Looks like the week is going to start out damp and dry out as we go along.

Today the National Weather Service predicts cloudy to mostly cloudy skies with a 40 percent chance of showers increasing to 60 percent on Tuesday morning.

Temperatures will be a bit below freezing in the Valleys, so it would be a good idea to take it easy in the morning on the off chance ice has developed.

The lows will stay below freezing for the rest of the week, but the highs will be in the 70s, making for some beautiful days.
