Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki will be in Minden today to speak at the Douglas County Republican Women's luncheon at the Carson Valley Inn. Lunch starts at 11:45 p.m. and will cost $18 at the door. Krolicki, a Stateline resident, served as state treasurer for eight years and was on the Douglas County Planning Commission.

Minden Town Board members are back in the saddle for their regular meeting 6 p.m. today. Among the items on the agenda are a presentation on the C.O.D. Garage Casino project, and a report on Minden's work to help the county and other governments meet their safe drinking water requirements. Minden meets at the CVIC Hall on Esmeralda.

The chance of thunderstorms returns today after 11 a.m. It looked pretty threatening on Tuesday, but the wind cleared it all out before anything happened. The chance for precipitation today is 20 percent increasing to 30 percent on Thursday. The high is supposed to crack 90 today, depending on what happens with the cloud cover.
