Douglas Disposal gears up for Christmas food drive

The employees of Douglas Disposal are sponsoring their 12th annual food drive in Carson Valley. Customers can look for flyers to be distributed Dec. 4-8. The flyers will be left on refuse containers with all information about the drive. This is an invitation for participation to help those in need during this holiday season. Simply place a bag of nonperishable food items beside your refuse container. Plastic bags are preferred to protect against rain and moisture. The employees will then collect the contributions the week of Dec. 11-15.

Once collected the food will be delivered to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet at 1255 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville, and distributed within the community to qualified recipients. Employees are hoping customers will use their holiday spirit to brighten the lives of those in need. Any and all contributions will be appreciated. Donations can also be delivered to Douglas Disposal at the new office at 1653 Lucerne Street, Suite A, in the Minden Village. For directions call 782-5713.

For more information about the food closet, contact director Eileen Boettiger or assistant director Donna Kurtz at 782-3711. The food closet is open Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 1-4 p.m.
