Douglas Disposal gears up for annual food drive

Staff Reports

Carson Valley residents can help those in need during the holidays during the 15th annual food drive sponsored by Douglas Disposal Inc. and its employees.

Informational flyers will be left on trash containers the week of Nov. 30 through Dec. 4. Donations of nonperishable food items in plastic bags should be placed beside trash cans during the week of Dec. 7-11 to be picked up by Douglas Disposal employees.

The collected food will be weighed and delivered to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet as part of the Valley-wide holiday food drive. Donations may also be delivered to the Douglas Disposal Office at 1653 N. Lucerne St., Suite A, Minden Village. For information or directions, call 782-5713.

Please help us make this food drive a success. Last year we were able to deliver more than 11,000 pounds of food for our community. Considering the current economy and the increase in food closet clients, the goal for 2009 is 12,000. Please check that pantry or add just a couple items to your shopping list.

Carson Valley Community Food Closet is at 1255 Waterloo, Gardnerville. Information, 782-3711.
