Douglas Disposal and its employees host their 16th annual food drive to benefit the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.

Informational flyers will be left on trash containers the week of Nov. 29 - Dec. 3, letting customers know to place their donations of nonperishable food items in plastic bags beside trash cans to be picked up by Douglas Disposal on Dec. 6-10.

The collected donations are weighed and delivered to the food closet as part of the Carson Valley food drive. Douglas Disposal collected 8,940 pounds of food from their customers last year, with the goal to surpass that total and help even more in the community enjoy the holidays.

Donations may also be delivered to the Douglas Disposal office, 1653 Lucerne St., Suite A, in Minden Village. Information, 782-5713.

Donations are accepted at the Carson Valley Community Food Closet, 12:30 -4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 1255 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville, 782-3711.
