Douglas Disposal gears up for annual food drive

Check your pantry or add a couple items to your shopping list for the 15th annual food drive sponsored by Douglas Disposal Inc. and its employees.

The food drive benefits the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.

Informational flyers will be left on trash containers the week of Nov. 30 through Dec. 4. Donations of nonperishable food items in plastic bags should be placed beside trash cans during the week of Dec. 7-11 to be picked up by Douglas Disposal employees.

The collected food will be weighed and delivered to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet as part of the Valley-wide holiday food drive. Donations may also be delivered to the Douglas Disposal Office at 1653 N. Lucerne St., Suite A, Minden Village. Information or directions at 782-5713.

Last year Douglas Disposal was able to deliver more than 11,000 pounds of food to the food closet. Because of the increase in food closet clients, the goal for 2009 is 12,000 pounds.
