Genoa, Nev. — It’s pollinator week and that’s going to be the topic of the Heritage Park Gardens Q&A 5:30 p.m. in Gardnerville. UNR Extension Horticulture Outreach Coordinator Jessica Gardner and the Master Gardeners will be in attendance.


Agreements with the two East Fork Professional Firefighters associations were approved by the Fire Protection District Board on Tuesday. The agreements revise the final year of the associations’ five-year contract with a combined increase of $176,063.


The Dangberg Historic Home Ranch continues its "Women Who Changed Their World" series 6:30 p.m. today with Bowen Lee conducting a Chautauqua of Anna May Wong, the first Chinese American film star in Hollywood. Tickets are $15 for 17 years and older. Youth 16 years and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased at the event. Bring a chair.


I visited Ag Day at the Dangberg Historic Home Ranch on Tuesday and had a good conversation with former Douglas High School Ag teacher and Nevada Farm Bureau Ag Education Director Robin Futch. She said she’s working on a curriculum designed to truly bring agriculture into the classroom.


Thursday is Juneteenth, which means local, state and federal offices will be closed. If you’ve got urgent business with the government, best to get it done today.


A fire weather watch has been issued for 1 p.m. Thursday to midnight Friday across Western Nevada. If the pattern holds, it may be upgraded to the fourth red flag warning of the season.


Today will see the warmest temperatures of the week with the high forecast to hit 94 degrees, down a couple of points from the previously forecast 96 degrees.
