From presenting the colors to the giant inflatable slide and a free patriotic lunch, the Town of Minden fed hundreds at its Fourth of July celebration on Tuesday.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Explorers Post 2105 presented the colors on Tuesday morning in Minden before everyone placed their hands on their hearts for the National Anthem.

The children’s bike ride parade around Minden Park pedaled the event forward while the Town of Minden offered complimentary hamburgers and hotdogs and the Carson Valley Kiwanis Aktion Club provide drinks for purchase.

Attendees of all ages enjoyed tossing beach balls, playing in the splash pad and blow up waterslide and bounce house, cornhole and more.

“Our goal is for people to have fun and most importantly celebrate the reason we are here,” said Minden Town Manager JD Frisby.

One attendee was pleased with the opportunity of a Fourth of July celebration closer to home.

“I really love this event, it’s so cool that the town puts this on and provides the community with something fun to celebrate the Fourth without having to go far,” she said.
