More than 150 trotters have already pre-registered for the Carson Valley Food Closet’s Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day at Minden Park.

The 5k run through Minden’s neighborhoods supports the food closet and Douglas Animal Welfare Group.

Participants can sign up in two ways.

The virtual option invites trotters to walk, hike, jog, or run in a location of their choice anytime between Nov. 8-24.  The in-person option is Nov. 24 at Minden Park and includes the Kid’s Turkey Dash for those 12 and younger.

“This is a fun run, and we encourage people of all ages to come have fun,” said Carson Valley Food Closet Director Sarah Sanchez. “Typical participation is around 500 runners; we are aiming for 600 this year.”

Sanchez said participants are advised to pick up their swag bags early for a chance to be entered into a raffle for ski passes, dinner certificates, movie theatre passes and a mountain bike.

After the Turkey Trot, get ready for the Share Your Christmas Food Drive set for Dec. 9 at the Carson Valley Inn.
