Genoa, Nev. — A new weapons screening system demonstration set for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Douglas High School has been postponed. The system was announced last week.


Schools across the county are open this morning after the three-day Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. Watch for school buses on your commute this morning.


Former Nevada Controller Ron Knecht is the scheduled speaker at Minden Rotary noon today at the COD Casino. The club has started meeting the first and third Wednesdays.


At the last update, there were seven confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases from Douglas County with two on a respirator. The new daily confirmed cases are 28. The county’s vaccination rate is 55.32 percent with 62.25 percent initiating the dos dose regime.


Expect mostly sunny skies today with a high near 52 degrees with the wind out of the east at 5 mph calming as the day progresses. Lather, rinse and repeat for the rest of the week.
