Genoa, Nev. — South Lake Tahoe, Carson City and Alpine County have all closed in-person instruction do to staffing shortages attributed to the coronavirus outbreak. With the exception of Zephyr Cove Elementary, Douglas appears to be chugging along to the three-day weekend.


The new average daily confirmed cases for Douglas County is at 26 and the county has seven people in the hospital, with two in intensive care. The virus claimed two lives so far in 2022, bringing the county to 76 total since August 2020.


CPS HR Consulting out of Sacramento was selected for a $25,000 contract to find a new library director on Tuesday. The firm estimates it will take them up to 13 weeks to land a candidate.


A report of smoke from a house in Holbrook Highlands around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday ended up being someone grilling a steak.


It’s going to be another nice day to barbecue, though somewhat cloudy. Expect a high temperature near 57 degrees and southeast winds of 10 mph shifting to the west this afternoon. Friday’s going to see the beginning of a cooler spell.
