The governor may announce he’s modifying the mask mandate at his press conference today. With several states changing those mandates, including California on Feb. 16. It sounds like it’s going to be another “if you’re vaccinated, you don’t have to wear a mask,” but I don’t know for certain.

Literally thousands of coronavirus tests are available for people who want them from Douglas County. When I picked up mine from the Douglas County Community & Senior Center around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday I was told they’d already distributed a crate that morning.

I published a list online of locations where you can find the tests at https://www.recordcourier.com/news/2022/feb/09/county-distributes-free-coronavirus-tests/ Generally, it’s where you’d think they’d be: Both community centers, both fire district offices, the chamber and Cooperative Extension.

A Simon for Nevada Town Hall is scheduled for 5:30-8 p.m. today at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Carson Valley resident Fred Simon is making a push before filing starts on March 7.

Wednesday morning’s collision at Johnson Lane and Highway 395 after a semi rear-ended a sport utility vehicle may have been due to a health issue on the part of the trucker. He was the only one transported. Drivers in both Monday’s and Tuesday’s collisions sound like they’re going to recover, according to the Nevada State Police.

Expect sunny skies with a high near 60 degrees with the wind out of the south at 5 mph shifting west this afternoon. A chance of precipitation remains in the forecast for Monday, but we’ll see how that goes.
