Coronavirus tests being distributed by Douglas County.
On Wednesday, Douglas County began distributing at-home coronavirus test kits free for personal use.
Each person is limited to two tests per day. The tests were purchased by the state with American Rescue Plan Act funds.
As of Monday, there was an average of 22 confirmed daily cases in Douglas County with 7,019 so far since March 2020, and 82 deaths attributed to the virus. The county is down to three confirmed and suspected cases in the hospital and one in intensive care, according to Nevada Health Response.
Tests are available for pickup at the several locations across the county, including the Douglas County Community and Senior Center in Gardnerville, Kahle Community Center in Stateline, East Fork Fire Protection District offices in Minden, Douglas County Agricultural Extension in Gardnerville, the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District Office in Zephyr Cove and the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce in Gardnerville.
“Individuals who are not feeling well for any reason will receive curbside delivery at the Community Centers by driving up to the front of the building, call the number below, and a staff person will deliver the at-home kit to your car,” county officials said. “Please do not enter the facility if you are not feeling well.”
If a test comes up positive, residents should arrange for a subsequent PCR test to confirm the results and have it reported to the state.
Carson City Health and Human Services advises residents to stay home for five days and then take a PCR test, which will be reported.
