Gardnerville, Nev. â A suspect in a reported kidnapping in the Gardnerville Ranchos was taken into custody on Blue Lakes Road in Alpine County on Wednesday.
Deputies responded to the 800 block of Short Court at 10:45 a.m. after receiving a domestic battery report. The woman fled to a friendâs home, and Joshua Albericci followed.
According to the Douglas County Sheriffâs Office, an armed Albericci, 35, allegedly forced the woman into a Chevrolet Tahoe and drove west out of the Ranchos.
A broadcast went out to surrounding law enforcement agencies as sheriffâs personnel sought the Tahoe and its occupants.
At 12:35 p.m. Alpine County Sheriffâs deputies spotted the Tahoe at the second gate of Blue Lakes Road. The woman was found near the vehicle safe and unharmed.
Albericci was taken into custody and booked into El Dorado County Jail on charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment, possession of an assault weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, destruction or concealment of evidence, obstructing or resisting arrest. Albericciâs bail has been set at $300,000. Douglas County is seeking Albericciâs extradition.
Because Albericci might have headed for one of two Carson Valley schools, the schools kept students inside.
âWe placed Meneley Elementary and Douglas High School on STAY PUT,â said Douglas County School Superintendent Teri White. âThat means that we proceed normally, but do everything indoors. Douglas Highâs STAY PUT was lifted just prior to lunch, but we kept Meneley in STAY PUT through lunch. There was never a threat to the schools, it was precautionary on our part.â
