Slushy roads at the top of Kingsbury Grade are snarling traffic between Stateline and Minden.
Chains or snow tires are being required over the grade, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
Trouble on Kingsbury started with a minor accident near the summit.
Deputies responding to the accident routed traffic a few cars at a time while an NDOT crew sanded the road.
Spooner Summit also is requiring chains or snow tires, as is Mount Rose Highway.
Chains or four-wheel drive are being required to go over Carson Pass or Echo Summit.
