Weather Service issues hazardous weather outlook

A hazardous weather outlook was been issued by the National Weather Service this morning.

Gusty winds, hail and rainfall are expected to accompany thunderstorms that will brew after 11 a.m. today.

"A low-pressure area will remain near the California coast today with light southeast flow to continue bringing moisture into Western Nevada. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will form again along the Sierra this afternoon and push further eastward into the Sierra front," according to the weather service. "A few storms will be capable of gusty winds to 45 mph, with small hail and locally heavy rainfall."

Thunderstorms are expected to remain in the forecast for the next week.

"Moisture and instability will continue to build along the Sierra and spread to Northeast California and much of western Nevada. As a low-pressure system deepens off the west coast thunderstorms will become better organized, especially early next week. A few storms are expected to be strong and capable of producing locally heavy rain, hail and strong wind gusts."
