Terrence Howell was a good father, according to a woman at his daughter's school. The school's closed for the summer now, but I urged her to get Howell's brother to set up a bank account for the girl. So far we haven't received any other information on a possible account for the man who died Monday night after receiving a beating on Sunday.

A hazardous weather outlook is in effect for Western Nevada through tonight as thunderstorms return to the forecast. According to the National Weather Service, a low pressure system is heading our way today bringing showers and thunderstorms, mainly south of Interstate 80. Some of the storms could be severe, with strong winds, hail, lightning and locally heavy rainfall.

It's taco night down at the Minden-Douglas Elks Lodge. Tacos are $1.50 a pop 5-7 p.m. at 1276 Pit Road in Gardnerville.
