Drunk driver headed back to prison

A 50-year-old man with a prior felony conviction for driving under the influence faces up to 15 years in Nevada State Prison for a June 13 DUI arrest.

Michael Clifford Stewart pleaded guilty Tuesday, admitting he was driving intoxicated when he was arrested June 13 at Waterloo and El Dorado in Gardnerville.

He blood-alcohol content tested at .209, nearly three times the legal limit of .08 for driving in Nevada.

Stewart's prior felony conviction was in 1997 in Los Angeles.

District Judge Dave Gamble set sentencing for Aug. 4.

In a plea agreement, the district attorney is to recommend up to five years in Nevada State Prison and a $2,000 fine.

The maximum is 15 years and a $5,000 fine.

Stewart is ineligible for probation.
