Upcoming events at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. Information, 783-6455.

The Father's Day bake sale is 9 a.m. to noon today at the senior center.

Summer barbecues

The senior center hosts summer barbecues in Lampe Park featuring music, games, bingo and food. The senior center will be closed 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on barbecue days.

The Red, White & Blue barbecue is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 16, with a bean bag toss, egg relay race, beach ball volleyball and music by Don & Nadine.

The luau barbecue, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 2 at Lampe Park, features entertainment by hula dancers.

Day at the movies

The senior center hosts a trip to see "Bye Bye Birdie" at the Galaxy Theater in Carson City. The 1963 movie stars Dick Van Dyke and Janet Leigh. Bus departs senior center at 8:30 a.m. June 29 for 10 a.m. show. Free transportation and bag lunch for seniors. Reservations, 783-6455.

Knitting and crocheting

The knitting and crocheting group meets 9 a.m. to noon Mondays in the ceramic room, except on the second Monday of the month when the group meets at the Aspen Mobile Home Park's clubhouse. Information, Linda Sawtel, 783-8982.

Silver yoga

Silver yoga for seniors is 10-10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the senior center. Cost is $2 per class.

Fly tying

Instructor Norm Williams from High Sierra Flycatchers provides tools and shows how to tie flies for fly fishing, 1-3 p.m. Thursdays, in the ceramics room at the senior center.

Painting classes

Watercolor classes are offered 9 a.m. to noon on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the senior center. Cost is $20 per class, including materials. Information, instructor Lada Trimble, 882-6061.
