Senior center offers activities to be active and creative

The Douglas County Senior Center introduced the Life Options program to expand the ways seniors are motivated to be more mentally and physically active. The senior center offers Life Options activities almost daily and most are free. The senior center is at 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. For information on the program and other activities, call 783-6455.

Life Options activities:

n Resistance exercise class is offered 10:30-11:15 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday.

n Wise Owl Yoga class times are 10-10:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the senior center.

n Ceramics classes are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays.

n A scrapbooking workshop is 10 - 10:30 a.m. Sept. 25.

n Knitting and crocheting, 9 a.m. Mondays.

n Green Thumb Garden Club meets 10 a.m. Sept. 22 for a discussion on getting plants through winter.

n Free excursion to see the Alfred Hitchcock movie, "Notorious," starring Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman on Sept. 29. The bus departs at 8 a.m. for a 10 a.m. showing at the Galaxy Theaters in Carson City. Sign up to attend.

n Define Fitness in Minden and Gold's Gym in north Douglas County offer special monthly rates to seniors. Inquire at the senior center.
