Reduced price tickets will be available through Friday to the Carson Valley Days carnival. Pre-sale carnival tickets are available at Raley's and Nevada State Bank for $17. Thursday is two-for-one night. Pre-sale tickets aren't eligible for the deal. Tickets at the carnival will be $22 for unlimited rides.

The Public Utilities Commission has scheduled a public hearing in Reno to hear comments on a NV Energy rate decrease. The session is 4 p.m. June 17 in room A3 of the Reno Sparks Convention Center. I'm not sure what they expect besides "thanks," but you never know.

Kat Simmons' friend's dogs are safe and sound. Kat said they've been located and locked up until her friend gets back to the Valley. Thanks to those people who called me to help.

People Editor Sharlene Irete is back in the saddle today. I'm sure those who've had to struggle trying to get my attention over the past two weeks will be thankful, I know I am.

There's a chance of isolated thunderstorms today, with a high temperature of 71 degrees. I wish it weren't so, but the chance of thunderstorms is increasing toward the weekend to as high as 40 percent on Friday night. The Weather Service is calling for up to a fifth of an inch of rain over the weekend.
