The R-C Morning Report

It's going to be a cool, breezy first day of Carson Valley Days today with 10-20 mph winds gusting to 35 mph and a high of 66 degrees. Today is buddy day at the carnival with 2-for-1 tickets. You've got to buy them at the carnival. Pre-sale ticket books good for Friday through Sunday are still on sale at Raley's and Nevada State Bank. The carnival opens at 5 p.m.

If riding the Ferris wheel isn't your cup of tea, there's plenty else going on tonight, including a benefit for the Schiller family 6-9 p.m. at Jethro's in the Gardnerville Ranchos. I'd be shocked if there was a dinner ticket left, but people can still get their picture taken with Cap'n Monte Colburn of the crab boat Wizard from Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch," who will be in attendance to sign autographs.

Frank Ackerman will be talking about the history of railroads in Nevada 7 p.m. at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center. It's part of the historical society's lecture of the month.
