The R-C Morning Report

Two people accused of participating in several Carson Valley burglaries are scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court this morning. Vanessa Gomez, 19, and Timothy Morgan, 21, were arrested May 7 after investigators pursuing several burglaries followed the couple. They appeared in East Fork Justice Court and waived their preliminary hearings, indicating they would plead guilty today.

The countdown to Carson Valley Days begins. I'll wager the Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club still have room for special needs children for carnival rides on Wednesday. Anyone interested in participating should call Brian Deaton at 220-8046. Saturday will kick off with the launch of nine hot air balloons. The 20-30 Club is raffling off a chance to ride on the balloon for $5 a ticket or five tickets for $20. Anyone seeking tickets should contact secretary Tommy Lovell at (775) 313-6913.

Sunday was the only day in a week that didn't have thunderstorms in the forecast. The big boomers are back today, but the odds are pretty low. The National Weather Service is predicting a 10 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms today and Wednesday. The high temperature will warm up a bit into the upper 70s.
