Angel Trees

Sponsor a child in need for Christmas by picking an angel from one of the Project Santa Claus Angel Trees at Taylor-York Salon, Tumblewind, Bently Biofuels, Sharkey's, Raley's, Scolari's, R & T Cleaners and Carson Valley Medical Center. Return wrapped gifts to Angel Tree locations by Wednesday.

Christmas food drive

Berean Bible Church hosts a food drive for families in need. Drop off donations of turkeys, rolls, potatoes, gravy packets, cranberry sauce, green beans, corn, stuffing and apple cider at Nyona's Studio 395 in Minden by Friday. Information, Stacia, (775) 392-0654.


Toy drive

Tree helps shelter animals

A holiday gift tree to supply items for homeless animals will be displayed through Dec. 22 at Max's Pet Supplies in the Raley's Center in Gardnerville. The drive is sponsored by Douglas Animal Welfare Group and Kori Snyder of Max's Pet Supplies.

The tree displays ornaments with requests for dog and cat food, toys and other items. Donated gifts will be delivered to the Douglas County Animal Shelter before Christmas. Monetary donations accepted at the store. Funds are used to pay for spay and neuter, medical emergencies, health problems, training, and special diets for shelter animals. Senior Christmas dinner

Carson Valley Residential Care Center serves a free turkey dinner and pumpkin pie for seniors 65 and older at 1 p.m. on Christmas Day. Make reservations to arrange transportation by Dec. 21 by calling 265-1400.

The Carson Valley Residential Care Center is at 1189 Kimmerling Road, in the Gardnerville Ranchos.


Noel dinner

To receive an invitation for the 11th annual Noel Christmas Dinner for those without family, call Rita Hill, 783-9908. Christmas Day dinner is at St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.
