Kiwanis bike drive

Donate used bicycles, tricycles, wagons or scooters in good condition to the Kiwanis Club of Gardnerville-Minden. Drop-off sites are the Town of Gardnerville maintenance yard at 1369 Highway 395 or at the Gardnerville Ranchos General Improvement District office, 931 Mitch Drive. Project Santa

Project Santa Claus accepts donations of unwrapped new toys, books and games. Drop-off sites include: Carson Valley Medical Center, Cooperative Extension Office, Raley's camera department, World Gym, Two Guys from Italy and many Minden Village locations. Information, Marilyn Malkmus, 782-4931.


Food closet

seeks donations

Frozen turkeys, canned hams, nonperishable food and volunteers needed at the Carson Valley Community Food Closet, 1255 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville. Hours: 1-4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday. Information, Eileen Boettiger, 782-3711.


Angel Trees

Sponsor a child at Christmas by choosing a name off a Project Santa sponsored Angel Tree at Taylor-York Salon, Sharkey's Casino, Raley's, R&T Cleaners, Scolari's, Carson Valley Medical Center and the Topaz Lodge. Food drives:

n Dairy Queen at 1710 Highway 395 in Minden is collecting food for the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. Donate a grocery bag of nonperishable food and receive a free small Blizzard. Information, 782-5014.

n Douglas Disposal is sponsoring its 14th annual food drive to benefit Carson Valley Community Food Closet. Customers are asked to fill a plastic grocery bag and place it next to their trash containers for the Dec. 8-12 pick-up. Donations may also be delivered to Douglas Disposal at 1653 N. Lucerne St., Suite A in Minden Village. Information, 782-3711.

n Curves Indian Hills and Minden Curves host a food drive to benefit the Carson Valley Community Food Closet until Dec. 18. Drop off donations at Minden Curves, 1667 Lucerne St., Suite D, Minden, or Indian Hills Curves at 924-D Mica Dr. Information, 782-3350 or 267-4711.


Douglas craft fair

The 27th annual Douglas High School craft fair will be 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday inside Douglas High School. Entrance fee is $2 or a donation of two cans of food. All profits go to benefit the students in Skills USA and Alpine Club. Information, 782-5136, ext. 1509.


Art and crafts fair

Merrill Gardens at Gardnerville hosts an art and crafts fair, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m Saturday, with Lion Club See's Candies, Soroptimist calendars, tote bags, cookbooks and jewelry. Merrill Gardens is at 1565-A Virginia Ranch Road. Information, Corneil Vacirca, 782-3100.
