Hot August DAWG day

Staff Reports

Volunteers with the Douglas Animal Welfare Group's annual Hot August adoption event is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Douglas County Animal Shelter, 921 Pinenut Road, Gardnerville.

Free hot dogs, chips and drinks provided throughout the event. DAWG members will be available to show animals to potential adopters to find the perfect pet.

The population at the facility continues to hover near capacity with a variety of dogs and cats available for adoption.

Each adoption includes a free spay or neuter, free microchip and AVID registration, up to a $75 reimbursement for obedience training and a pizza card. New owners may select either group obedience training or individual training at home.

The nonprofit DAWG organization has the mission to better lives of Douglas County animals by improving their adoptability and increase the adoption rate of the Douglas County Animal Shelter. Information, dawgrescue.com or 782-2323.
