They started making candy in Genoa on Monday in preparation for the town's annual Candy Dance fundraiser. My sources say there are a couple of trays of fudge already cooling in the town's refrigerators. Anyone interested in volunteering, should contact the town at 782-TOWN and get a time and place to help out.

Players of the Nevada Shakespeare Company will be at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden tonight to help children understand the Bard's work and how theater works in general. The gig starts at 6 p.m.

The town boards of Gardnerville and Genoa will be meeting today. Gardnerville will be talking about a project surrounding Martin Slough that will include modifying fishing rules for a cooperative project with the Nevada Division of Wildlife and an agreement with the U.S. Corps of Engineers, the Nevada Historical Preservation Office and the town for the Martin Slough Lineal Parkway Project. Gardnerville meets in their town offices downtown. Genoans will meet at 7 p.m. in the town hall

It's 44 degrees outside in Genoa at 6:30 a.m., which is pretty darn cool. Today's high is predicted to hit 84 under mostly sunny skies. High Temperatures will stay in the 80s through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
