The R-C Morning Report

Meeting week starts off 4:30 p.m. today with the Gardnerville Town Board discussing the fourth phase of the Martin Slough project. That's the long bit on an agenda that I would be shocked would last an hour. At 7 p.m. Genoa meets with the hiring of a new town manager on the agenda. Minden and the Gardnerville Ranchos meet on Wednesday and Douglas County commissioners meet Thursday.

A California man who participated in a scheme to cash bogus Douglas County School District checks is scheduled to appear before District Judge Dave Gamble this morning on an accusation that he violated his probation. Daniel Ludy, 38, received a suspended 30-month prison sentence in the case in September 2005. When he was sentenced, he was ordered to pay restitution and abstain from using drugs or alcohol.

Whatever it was that had the National Weather Service predicting snow for today has evaporated and the forecast is for sunny skies and a high of 39 today, climbing into the upper 40s by the end of the week. The temperature should hit 49 by Sunday.
