The R-C Morning Report

A winter storm warning has been issued for Carson Valley that includes the possibility that 4-6 inches of snow will fall on the Valley floor tonight. We had a pretty good dusting of snow on the west side of the Valley, but it's starting to melt off. Expect chain controls above 5,000 feet during the morning commute. The worst of the weather is supposed to hit after 4 p.m., so prepare for this evening's commute.

Chains or snow tires are required on Kingsbury Grade and Highway 50 from Carson to Stateline. Where the roads climb above 5,000 feet, including Washoe Valley, expect snow. There's a stranded motorist on Kingsbury at mile marker 4, according to the NHP. During Monday's rains, there were a lot of rocks and debris rolling off the mountain into roadways, so be careful of falling rocks.

Today is the first big day of meeting week, with the Gardnerville town board kicking it off. Gardnerville will be working on the budget at their 4:30 p.m. meeting at the town offices. They may also seek the potential purchase of more land on the Hellwinkel Ranch next to the town's Martin Slough project.

On the agenda for Genoans is a presentation on the town's light pollution resolution, further discussion on recommendations to the board of commissioners about the festival permit and the expansion of Walley's Hot Springs. The Genoa Town Advisory Board meets 7 p.m. in the town meeting room.
