Two people were reported killed late Sunday night near Bridgeport, according to the California Highway Patrol. The head-on accident occurred at 10:53 p.m. on Highway 395, according to the CHP Web site. The highway was closed for an hour and a half, reopening at 12:30 a.m.

Sen. John Ensign will be touring Minden this morning, stopping at the Holiday Inn Express this morning for a meeting with business leaders and then touring two Minden manufacturers. A spokesman said the senator is on break from Congress.

The town advisory boards of Gardnerville and Genoa hold their regular meetings today. Gardnerville will be talking about its street projects for the summer. The Gardnerville Town Board meets 4:30 p.m. in its offices on Highway 395. Genoans will discuss updates on the 90th annual Candy Dance cookbook, the results of the cowboy poetry festival and the Genoa concert series. They meet 6:30 p.m. in the town offices.

It's warm out this morning, thanks in part to cloud cover over the Valley. Today's high though will still be reasonably cool, hitting 71 degrees. Expect partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s through the rest of the week. The cloud cover will stick around at night keeping temperatures in the upper 40s.
