Pet groomer opens Ranchos shop

Dogs and cats no longer need to suffer from bad hair days.

Gina Stanchfield, a pet groomer for 22 years and former owner of Critter Cleaners, has opened Gina's Grooming "The Natural Choice" in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

Stanchfield said the staff at Gina's Grooming are detail-oriented.

"Sometimes the grooming shop is the only attention pets get," she said. "We don't forget to do details like trimming nails and cleaning ears."

They use 100 percent natural human grade pet products and keep pets from being stressed from over-long visits to the groomers.

"We pride ourselves in doing a great job and getting them out within three hours," she said.

Stanchfield said they use the Espree natural animal care products of shampoos and conditioners.

"I'm a firm believer in natural products and it's easy to use what you believe in," she said. "Espree products are especially beneficial to pets here in Nevada's dry climate."

For humans, Gina's Grooming has Stanchfield's own line of Pitbulldecals.com vinyl decals and tote bags. She also sells hand-dipped Wild Berry incense.

"They have a bazillion great fragrances," she said. "I first started using it to cover dog odors and it really works."

Stanchfield said pet grooming is much-needed service in Carson Valley, especially in the Ranchos where there is the biggest of population of people and pets.

"There's such a need for a grooming business in town and people like to pamper their pets," she said. "A lot of people don't know you can groom cats."

Gina's Grooming is at the corner of Kimmerling and Tillman at 791 Tillman Lane, Unit A.

"We're at a convenient location," Stanchfield said. "While you're waiting, you could go to Jethro's, go bowling or to Pony Espresso for coffee."

Walk-ins are welcome for nail trims. Gina's is now accepting appointments for the holidays. For more information, call 265-3130.
