Man accused of stealing theater system

A 21-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was jailed Nov. 25 on a burglary charge, accused of walking out of Wal-Mart without paying for a home theater system.

Kolby Blayne Fair was taken into custody Nov. 25 by store security who had been watching him and another suspect allegedly case the store for two months.

According to store personnel, Fair and the other man walked past the cashier Nov. 25 without paying and showed a crumpled sales slip to an attendant at the door.

Fair was arrested after he walked out, but the second suspect got away.

Fair allegedly admitted buying a similar $250 unit in Carson City and using the receipt at the Carson Valley store to walk out without paying for the system.

Fair told deputies he didn't know the other man who fled the store and said he'd only met him on Thanksgiving.

Store personnel said the two had been coming around the store a half dozen times in the past two months trying to steal computers.

n Two 18-year-olds were cited for trespassing at Ambrosetti Pond after residents complained they were duck hunting on restricted property.

Deputies were called to the area at 3 p.m. Nov. 25 after the residents saw two hunters on the property who fired at least seven shots.

One of the teens, dressed in camouflage and carrying a shotgun, was spotted walking near the pond. Deputies said he had to cross a barbed wire fence and "No Trespassing" signs to gain access to the property.

He waded across the Carson River to talk to deputies and said he was "just trying to scare the ducks to the river and had been shooting in the air."

He was cited for trespassing and given a verbal warning for hunting without a license.

n An employee at a Gardnerville industrial park auto repair shop found a bag Nov. 16 that contained methamphetamine and cocaine left by someone who had come to look at a car for sale.

The mechanic said when the subject left after looking at a vehicle, he saw a bag where the man had been standing.

He opened the bag which he believed contained narcotics and took it into the office. Moments later, he said, the subject came back frantically looking for the bag. He went out to talk to the man and the suspect took off.

The mechanic turned the bag over to the sheriff's office. Deputies said the bag contained four clear bags of a white crystal substance that looked like methamphetamine and one clear bag of what appeared to be cocaine.

n A resident of the 1000 block of Aspen Grove Circle reported that nearly $3,000 in mountain climbing equipment, a bicycle and martial arts training items were stolen from the garage.

The 21-year-old victim said the garage may have been left open accidentally the night before.

n An 18-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos resident was cited for minor consuming after a deputy observed him dancing in the intersection of Tillman and Chardonnay at 4 a.m. Monday,

The teenager, who was dressed in black, told the deputy he was "saying good-bye to the neighborhood" and moving to Oregon.

He admitted drinking four shots of vodka which resulted in a blood-alcohol content of .117 and the citation.

n The owner of a 1998 Ford Ranger reported up to $4,000 damage to the vehicle that he left parked in the driveway of a residence in the 1600 block of Belarra Drive while he was out of town.

Deputies said the paint was scratched to the metal on the entire left side of the truck and part of the right front.

The vandal broke the antenna and the glass in the driver's side rearview mirror. The driver's side windshield wiper also was broken.
