Genoa, Nev. — A fundraiser has been established for an expectant mother of two whose Conner Way home was essentially destroyed when a neighboring home caught fire early Friday morning.
The Conner Fire grew 362 acres on Sunday to around 27.6 square miles, according to Monday morning’s National Interagency Coordination Center situation report. The fire cost $3.5 million to fight. There are 363 firefighters working the blaze in nine hand crews, 23 engines and four helicopters.
A few hot spots are showing along the northwestern edge of the Conner Fire on the Fire Information for Resource Management System. As of late last night, officials reported there was a line around almost a fifth of the fire with full containment expected by July 4.
East Fork Fire Capt. Tracy Connelly is scheduled to discuss the 2025 fire outlook at today’s 1:30 p.m. meeting of the Local Emergency Planning Committee at 1615 8th St. in Minden.
The Aktion Club of Carson Valley will be conducting a fun walk 9-11 a.m. today sponsored by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Expect Highway 395 to be closed briefly at Gilman as they walk from Heritage to Minden parks.
Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature near 79 degrees. The wind will pick up out of the north at 5 mph this afternoon. There is a chance for thunderstorms from Tahoe south around 2-7 p.m.
