Dallas, Texas — Regional Transportation commissioners will discuss awarding a $11.58 million contract to Qualcon Contractors for the first phase of Muller Lane Parkway, which is outside of the flood plain. The county has to work with FEMA for the rest. The meeting is 10 a.m. today in the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden.

I heard this morning that Jeanine Dwyer was not appointed superintendent at last night's school board. That process has been kind of tortuous and Sarah Drinkwine will be sorting it out today.

Douglas County planning commissioners upheld conditions placed on an NV Energy substation for Stockyard and East Valley roads. That doesn’t seem like much comfort to the Grandview Estates folks who are opposing having it across from their subdivision.

The courthouse, ahem, the Justice Center, project special use permit sailed through the planning commission 6-0 with a minimum of 229 parking spaces, which should accommodate at least one jury call, and a good piece of a second.

I’m in the Dallas airport writing this after spending the eclipse with family. It was a bit cloudy over my sister’s place, but we got to totality without too much hassle.

Expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 72 degrees today in Minden. The wind will be light at 5 mph this afternoon.
