If your plan for this hot weekend is to head into the mountains, options are limited by big events, including the American Century Championship golf tournament at Stateline, the Tour of the California Alps in Markleeville and the Trans-Tahoe Relay Race at Sand Harbor.
Make sure and check on residents who are potentially vulnerable to the heat during over the next week, or so. The National Weather Service in Reno is predicting temperatures will drop back into the mid-90s next week, and hopefully that’s what happens. However, these heat waves have an unfortunate propensity to stick around.
Have I mentioned it’s going to be hot this weekend? The forecast temperature for Saturday is back down to 102 degrees with Sunday going to 103 degrees in Minden. The high temperature is supposed to drop to 97 degrees on Monday. The excessive heat warning remains in effect through Western Nevada and Central California.
