Genoa, Nev. — Markleeville resident Dean Trivett, 80, is being sought after he and his camper were reported missing near Cabo San Lucas in Mexico on Feb. 11. A friend said his dog Bones turned up without him that morning. Dean appeared in an R-C story about the Alpine Post Office back in 2006.


The roads appear pretty slushy after Tuesday’s blast of snow, so be careful driving this morning. Chains or snow tires are required on state highways across Western Nevada. Add four- or all-wheel drive if you’re going into the mountains.


If you’re heading to Reno, there are three injury collisions on I-580 southbound between 6 and 6:20 a.m. I expect that means it’s slick on the Interstate, so use caution. Check NVroads.com before you go.


Members of the Vacation Home Rental Advisory Committee will take one last long look at the county code they’ve been working on for a year, but first there’s an appeal of a $5,000 fine from a Kingsbury property owner who was renting without a current permit.

The panel meets 1 p.m. today at Kahle Community Center.


A winter storm watch was issued this morning for Western Nevada says there’s a chance of 2-6 inches of snow in places starting late Thursday night through Saturday morning. There could be some 35 mph winds, too.


There’s a chance of scattered snow showers between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. today, though otherwise partly sunny with the high temperature climbing to near 30 degrees. We won’t see even as much snow as Tuesday.
