Genoa, Nev. — There might be some snow up top from a fast moving storm 5-10 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast calls for less than 2 inches at the higher elevations. The snow level is at 6,500 feet and could cause some commute issues this evening.


A Rosary and Prayer Service for Father Bill Nadeau is 6 p.m. today at St. Gall Catholic Church. Father Bill died on Dec. 21 after open heart surgery. A funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Jan. 13 at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Carson City, according to saintgall.org.


The Local Emergency Planning Committee will conduct the last Douglas County meeting of 2023. The panel will be reviewing the county’s Hazardous Materials Response Plan. More information is available at douglascountynv.gov


East Fork medics responded to the Taco Bell for a cardiac arrest at around 11:25 a.m. The patient was taken to Carson Valley Health for treatment.


Around the same time, Tahoe Douglas firefighters responded to a rollover up above Glenbrook that left a vehicle on its side. The driver didn’t appear injured, but it took firefighters a bit to get her out of the vehicle.


The Tahoe Symphony is returning to Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville on Jan. 10. Tickets are available 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Carson Valley Arts Council office, 1572 Highway 395 and at the door.

We’ll be working on the Jan. 3 edition this week, mainly because we’ll be closed a half day on Friday and all day on Jan. 1. If there’s something you need in the paper next week get it in today or Thursday morning, at the latest.


It’s supposed to warm up ahead of the storm with a high temperature near 58 degrees and the wind out of the south at 5-10 mph increasing to 15-20 mph before lunch time. Gusts could hit 35 mph.
