Genoa, Nev. — It might be a bit blustery at today’s Wind Down Wednesday, but according to CV Flyte they plan to proceed at Heritage Park 4-8 p.m. today. Halloween costumes are encouraged.

The Gardnerville bear was wandering around Arbor Gardens at last report. It doesn’t take much effort on the part of a Gardnerville bear to become a Ranchos, Minden or Ruhenstroth bear. We have a couple of bears in the orchards in Genoa.

Residents along the Genoa to south Carson City and Glenbrook neighborhoods remain subject to a public safety outage watch starting 9 a.m. today and lasting until 9 a.m. Thursday.

Truckee Meadows firefighters are battling a 47-acre fire near Verdi that started around midnight. The heat map on the Fire Information for Resource Management shows around 200 acres affected, mostly on the California side with a little encroachment into Nevada.

There’s a lake wind advisory for Tahoe with the possibility of 2-4-foot waves and winds gusting to 40 mph.

The wind is going to be the big deal today. Most of the Valley is looking at around 20 mph winds, gusting to 30-35 mph during the day from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday. I expect faster winds along the Carson Range.

Expect cloudy skies and a snow level around 7,600 feet rising to 8,200 feet today and then dropping back to 6,100 feet after midnight. Today’s high temperature is predicted to hit 62 degrees and dropping to 26 degrees tonight.
