It is often said that children hold the spirit of Christmas and when a room full of 3-5 year-olds sing “Happy Birthday Jesus,” the reason for the season is not easily mistaken.

Throughout December students at Trinity Lutheran Preschool learned about the birth of Jesus and showcased it for family and friends at the CVIC Hall Tuesday.

Directed and produced by Trinity Lutheran Preschool Director Joanne Tabor, students told  “The Story of Christmas” through songs such as “The Little Drummer Boy,” “ Away in a Manger,” “Jingle Bells,” “I am an Angel Ooh,” and more.

The Transitional Kindergarten, Butterfly and Bees classes shared the story of Jesus’ birth as told in the Bible from Luke 2:1-20.

“It’s always so fun to do this with the kids and to teach them the story of Christmas,” said Tabor.

Leading up to the performance students learned the meaning and reason for the holiday through lessons and activities.

“Around here, we say ‘Jesus is the reason for the season,” said Trinity Lutheran Preschool Assistant Director Samantha Tierney.

Tierney said students have learned about Jesus’ birth and Advent during their chapel services.

The center’s curriculum includes daily Bible lessons and weekly chapel time where children learn about God. During the holidays, stories, music and activities are incorporated to help teach what the holiday is about.

The preschool staff thanked the parents with a special message on their performance programs on Tuesday.

“Thank you for allowing us to teach your children about the love of Jesus this Christmas season.”
