It’ll be an upperclassmen-heavy boys cross country team this fall for the Douglas Tigers based on the first weekend of results.

Dennis Jorgensen and Joel Nord were 15th and 19th, respectively, in the boys senior race at the Douglas Class Races on Friday.

Douglas’ best finish came in the junior competition, as Luke Davis posted a 14:19 to take sixth in his heat. Sage Spencer was 12th in 15:09.

On the girls side, the Tigers nearly had a top-10 finish in every race.

Starting with the freshman, Joy Palmer took fifth for Douglas in 19:16.

Lucy Nord put together a time of 17:39 to cross the line in sixth place Friday while Logan Axtell was ninth in 18:57.

Ayla Nelson posted a 17:41 in the juniors race, which was good enough for eighth place overall.

Finally, in the seniors’ circuit, Douglas’ top finisher was Niza Barton, who took 12th in 19:12.

Julianne Hill and Kalie Mayotte were 18th and 21st, respectively, in the senior race.
