Genoa, Nev. — A proposal to subdivide 25.48 acres on Foothill Road across from the Sheridan Acres Fire Station into 10 lots goes to the Water Conveyance Advisory Committee 4 p.m. today in the third-floor conference room at the Minden Inn. The project goes to planning commissioners on Tuesday.

Members of the Airport Advisory Committee will hear a presentation on planning and scheduling for the 2024 National Glider Competition at Minden-Tahoe Airport. The Board meets 6 p.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St.

Air quality in the Valley has improved over the last couple of days over Saturday when it peaked at an index of 99 at noon and decreased visibility at the airport down a mile from its usual 10 miles.

There’s nothing burning this morning, that wasn’t burning on Saturday, so I’m blaming the playa, which generates a white haze and was the Weather Service’s first answer.

The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature around 90 degrees with the Washoe Zephyr arriving this afternoon with west winds 15-20 mph. Winds could gust to 30 mph this evening.
