Genoa, Nev. — We’re getting our first whiff of smoke season with some haze from the Bone Fire burning northwest of Yosemite. The fire has been burning since June 15 in an area proposed for a prescribed burn and is now 566 acres. Foresters hope it will grow to 961 acres before dousing it.


Commissioners are agendized to select a new soaring member to the Airport Advisory Committee. Applying for the position are original Soar Minden co-founder Linda Mae Hivert and Millennium Day Spa owner Robert Trumbly.


It’s the beginning of a new fiscal year and county commissioners are being asked to determine “where to, next?” at a presentation on the county strategic plan. The plan was last updated six years ago.


An ordinance that would establish a new liquor license classification specifically for mobile food trucks and trailers goes before county commissioners today. Commissioners meet 10 a.m. today in the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St. Find out more at www.douglascountynv.gov


The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high near 88 degrees, with the wind picking up to 15-20 mph later this morning. Tonight, the low is forecast to drop to 51 degrees with the zephyr still going into the evening.
